Founded in 2014 Aspal’s list includes translations of literary works from a number of European languages.

Many masterpieces of European literature are inaccessible to English readers because they have not been translated. Our aim is to open the doors to that treasure house of other cultures. All of our translations are of works which have been widely acclaimed in their original language but not previously available in English. We endeavour to remain close to both the letter and the spirit of the original texts while providing translations which can be enjoyed as works of art in their own right. Our authors include Max Brod close, friend and literary executor of Franz Kafka, and the Nobel Prize Winner, Grazia Deledda.
